There are three levels of Gift Certificate - SILVER (voucher only), GOLD (switch to the plate) and PLATINUM (switch to the plate and pay annual vehicle registration fees). The costs vary based on the 'annual use fee' that is set for the particular tag by the state. The 'annual use fee' is the fee that goes directly to the organization responsible for the plate and is set by statute. This ranges from $15 to $25.
NOTE: New personalized characters for a specialty license plate can only be obtained directly from DMV and cannot be ordered through this service. However, you can use your existing personalization if the new plate you are choosing allows the number of characters. Specialty License plates with a center logo design (such as the Save the Manatee license plate), may have up to 7 characters plus either a space or a hyphen. Specialty License plates with a left-side logo design (such as collegiate and sports license plates), may have up to 5 characters with no additional space or hyphen. (The state charges an additional fee of $15.00 per year in addition to all other annual taxes and fees for personalized license plates).
NOTE: Excludes new vehicle registration (which cannot be processed online) and excludes Transporter and Mobile Homes over 65 feet (which are ineligible for specialty license plates under this program).
